 A right umbilical vein is a relatively common variation (23:10,000) where the right umbilical vein persists instead of obliterating around 6 weeks as a result from enlargement of the liver.

It is degenerate in 7 week of  fetal life
it is degenate at least a week after birth  
It is not continuous with ductus venosus
It is continous with ductus venosus
It carry no blood to fetus
It carry oxygeneted blood to fetus from placenta
It is not produce any adult structure
In adult it is converted into round ligament of liver
