Comparison between tract and nerve

Comparison between tract and nerve Nerve Nerve contain bundle of axons (nerve fibers) in the peripheral nervous system (PNS) that transmits signals between the central nervous system (CNS) and other parts of the body. It is the most important part of peripheral nervous system Location: Peripheral nervous system. Structure: Made of axons, connective tissue layers (endoneurium: axon is surrounded by it , perineurium: bundle of axons are surrounded by it, epineurium: whole nerve trunk is surrounded by it), and blood vessels. It gets myelination by Schwann cell   Function: Carries sensory signals to the CNS (afferent) from peripheral part of body or motor signals carry from from the CNS (efferent) to target organs like skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, smooth muscle or glands Example: Sciatic nerve, median nerve, except optic nerve (though optic nerve is technically part of CNS in develop...

Difference between the palmar Interossei & dorsal interossei muscles of the hand

Difference between the palmar Interossei  & dorsal interossei muscles of the hand

Palmar  interossei
Dorsal interossei
Character
Uni-pennate
Bi-pennete
Size
Smaller than the dorsal interossei
Larger than the palmar interossei
Origin
by single head-from one side of the the body of the palmar surface of metacarpal bones
By two heads; from the adjacent sides the bodies of all metacarpal bones
View
They are only seen from the palmar aspect of the interosseous space
Dorsal interossei can be seen from both dorsal and palmar aspects
Action
Abduction-Carry the fingers or toes towards the middle line
PAD :
P : palmar interossei
AD : adduction
Abduction; carry the fingers or toes away from the middle line
DAB:
D: dorsal interossei
AB: abduction

Special note
Thumb require no Palmaris interossei thumb already possessing its own powerful adduction by adductor pollicis : one of the thenar muscle
Abduction of Thumb and little finger are done by abductor pollicis brevis of thenar muscle
And abductor digiti minimi of little finger .
Vascular supply
Branch of deep palmar arch,
Pronceps pollicis artery, radialis indicis artery. Palmar metacarpal artery
Proximal and distal perforating arteries and common and proper digital (palmar ) arteries
Dorsal metacarpal a (1st -4th )
Palmar metacarpal a(2nd to 4th )
Radial a (1st),Princeps pollicis a, Radialis indicis a,Three perforating branch from deep palmar arch &three distal perforating branches. The tendons are supply by branch from common &proper palmar digital a and the dorsal digital a
